As part of Utah’s Learn & Work program, Utah Tech and Pluralsight make available the 7,000+ courses and resources at Pluralsight via the Learn & Work in Utah program, allowing our larger community to enhance their technology skills for free.

How to Get Started

Platform Registration

Signing in via SSO for the first time as a new Pluralsight user

If you’ve never had a Pluralsight account before, you’ll need to create one the first time you access Pluralsight. Below are the steps you’ll need to take:

1. Navigate to Pluralsight from Canvas or through the SSO url here.
2. After successfully authenticating, you will be directed to an account creation form. Please enter your UT ID number and password. Don’t forget to check the box indicating that you agree to the Pluralsight terms and conditions!

3. Click Create account.
4. After clicking Create account, your account will be created and you will be assigned a license. You’ll be directed to the Pluralsight Skills homepage.

Signing in via SSO for the first time if you have an existing Pluralsight account

1. Navigate to Pluralsight from Canvas or through the SSO url here.
2. If the email used when setting up SSO matches your Pluralsight registered email, you will automatically be recognized and successfully log in to Pluralsight.
3. If your email does not match the Pluralsight registered email, you will be directed to the account creation page. Click “Sign in”. Important: At this point, it is critical that you click Sign in under “Already have an account?”

4. You will be directed to enter your existing Pluralsight credentials (username/email and password) to join your SSO authorization request with your existing Pluralsight account. This is only required once.

5. Once you’re successfully logged in, you’ll be directed to the Skills homepage.

 

Take Your First Course

Start your Pluralsight learning journey with the Pluralsight Learner: Getting Started course, a quick introduction to key features. Then, explore the Introduction to Pluralsight channel for more insights.

Use the video player’s features to enhance your learning experience, including skipping ahead or backward 10 seconds, utilizing closed captions, adjusting playback speed, and accessing settings for video quality, caption translation, and feedback.

Here are a few helpful features you can use to get around on the Skills video player:

  1. You can skip ahead or backward 10 seconds at a time.
  2. Most courses support closed captions (subtitles).
  3. You can speed up or slow down the course playback.
  4. From the Settings cogwheel, you can adjust the video playback quality, translate captions into a different language, and also give feedback on the course.

Troubleshooting

I'm not able to sign in through the Utah Tech SSO portal.

If you’re experiencing an error or other problem when trying to sign in to Pluralsight through the Utah Tech SSO portal, please make sure to try the following:

  • Type your UT email address in full
  • Remove spaces within your UT email
  • Check for misspellings in your email and password
  • Try a different browser

If you are experiencing an error or other issue on Pluralsight Skills after you’ve signed in through the SSO portal, please contact support@pluralsight.com.

What if I see an error when trying to view a course?

If you see “Start course” or “Resume course” on the course’s table of contents page, but receive an error when trying to watch the course, please reach out to support@pluralsight.com. In your email, please include the title of the course you’re having trouble watching as well as any error messages you see.

If you have watched content before and are just now seeing an issue, please refresh your browser and see if the issue persists. If the issue persists, please try our Advanced Troubleshooting below.

If you have never played a video on Pluralsight Skills, make sure you are using a recommended browser without any active extensions or add-ons on your browser. Some browser extensions interfere with video playback. If you don’t see any improvement, please try another recommended browser.

Tip: You should have a minimum of 2 mbps available to you for watching Pluralsight Skills videos to avoid buffering. If you have less, we recommend using the Pluralsight offline player.

Advanced troubleshooting

If you’ve having trouble with Pluralsight Skills and haven’t been able to resolve your issue, you can try some advanced troubleshooting using your browser’s diagnostic tool and send the results to Pluralsight Support.

To run your browser’s diagnostic tool:

  1. Open our video player in your desktop browser, then open your browser’s diagnostic tools (CMD-OPTION-I on Mac or F12)
  2. Go to the console tab, then reload or refresh the page.
  3. Take a screenshot of any errors that show up under the console tab.
  4. Navigate to the network tab, refresh again to get the network tab to populate, and take another screenshot.
  5. Please email us at support@pluralsight.com with those screenshots and information, and we can look into this further for you.
